Looks like a grasshopper they used to be black with red pinstripe when young. It's all over Mom's front yard. Can someone ID pls and is it destructive?

Can someone pls I'd this bug? It's all over Mom's yard. Is it destructive? They started out as black with pinstripe when young turned yellow after. The females are huge! Double to triple the males in size.
